Things were pretty different 12 months ago. Jen was single. She had no tattoos. She couldn’t yet claim not one, but two of the biggest hit movies of 2011. This year was full of changes for Jen, whether she chose them or they chose her, but one thing is certain – she has ended 2011 on a note that bodes well for a terrific 2012! Let’s review:
January
- Jen hit the ground running at the start of the year, beginning promotion for Just Go With It by presenting a People’s Choice Award to her costar and longtime friend Adam Sandler.
- Jen caused a stir with her Bardot-esque photoshoot in Allure – she also remarked on The Rachel, and foreshadowed the next step in her tress-formation.
- Jen started doing the rounds for Just Go With It, with a dizzying array of interviews.

February
- Jen continued U.S. press for Just Go With It, which included a premiere in New York.
- Jen’s perfume saw its U.S. launch – it debuted in February on Sephora.com, before expanding to Sephora stores and other retailers.
- Just Go With It opened at #1! Beating stiff competition for the top spot, Jen’s flick exceeded expectations, and it continues to do so – it was recently reported that Just Go With It was the #1 Redbox rental this year (Los Angeles Times). As birthday presents go, Jen had a nice one in the form of a hit movie!
- Jen ended the month with overseas press for JGWI, with photocalls and premieres in Berlin and Madrid. In Madrid, she debuted a short haircut that continued to garner press through the end of the year (see also: this week) – even after she started to grow it out!

March
- Jen laid low for most of March (for good reason, after that busy start to the year!), surfacing only for the launch of her perfume in Mexico!
- Jen’s funny, sexy Smartwater video went viral!
April
- In April, Jen got behind the cameras to direct one of the short films in Five – she also produced.
- One for the “little did I know” files – remember when I referred to Justin Theroux as Jen’s “Wanderlust costar”? Well, I guess that is still true, among other things . . .
May
- Jen launched her perfume at Sephora in New York, where she warmly greeted many appreciative fans.
- May also brought some sad news – Jen’s canine companion Norman passed away at the age of 15.
- Jen once again landed on the Forbes Celebrity 100, this time at #21!

June
- After weeks of rumors, Jen stepped out at the MTV Movie Awards afterparty with Justin Theroux – and the rest is history!
- Jen accepted the Decade of Hotness award at the Spike TV Guys’ Choice Awards – and of course, looked hot as ever!
- Jen appeared on the cover of Marie Claire in a sexy, playful photoshoot with her Horrible Bosses costars.
- Jen showed off a new tattoo on her right foot – it reads “Norman,” in honor of her recently deceased pet.
- She began promotion for Horrible Bosses – this round of press included a stop at Inside the Actors’ Studio, and a Los Angeles premiere.

July
- Jen’s Horrible Bosses press continued, with a hilarious appearance on her friend Chelsea Handler’s show.
- Jen made an impression on Hollywood, participating in a hand and footprint ceremony at Grauman’s Chinese Theater. For this special moment, Jen was surrounded by close friends, including Chelsea Handler and Jason Bateman, who said a few words. A now-clean-shaven Justin was also in attendance.
- Horrible Bosses opened at #2 at the box office, second only to Transformers: Dark of the Moon.
- Jen and her costars went on to promote HB in London. Jen looked both naughty and nice, first in a sexy Celine leather dress, then in a sweet Valentino frock.

August
- August was a quiet month for Jen – she and Justin enjoyed a vacation in Hawaii, where she and Justin celebrated his 40th birthday.
- Jen and Adam won Choice Chemistry at the Teen Choice Awards.
- Ahead of the release of Five, Jen shared the cover of Glamour with fellow directors Demi Moore and Alicia Keys.

September
- During this month, Jen and Justin were frequently snapped out and about in New York, having settled into the Village.
- September marked another personal setback – it was reported that Jen’s mom suffered a stroke, although it has also been reported that she is recovering well.
- Jen began to promote Five, with an appearance on GMA and a New York premiere. As always, Jen kept it classy, even when not everyone could manage to do so (see also: her ex-husband).
October

- Jen continued to promote Five with appearances in Virginia and Washington D.C., where she participated in a roundtable with breast cancer survivors and Second Lady Jill Biden. The project premiered on Lifetime on October 10th.
- Jen appeared on the cover of Elle as part of their Women In Hollywood issue. She was later honored at their Women in Hollywood Awards, where her award was presented by her TV sister Reese Witherspoon.
- Jen and Justin showed up in support of Robert Downey Jr. at the presentation of his American Cinematheque Award.
November

- Jen made a surprise appearance at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards to present her pal Chelsea with the Queen of the Night award.
- As she has for the past several years, Jen appeared in St. Jude’s Thanks and Giving campaign. This year, her costar was Hayli, an adorable toddler who was treated at St. Jude for AML leukemia. Jen also contributed a recipe to Loukoumi’s Celebrity Cookbook – a quinoa salad that I have made for several holiday gatherings, to rave reviews!
December
- December has been a quiet month on the Jen front, with most news items coming from recycled quotes. Hey, at least they’re being eco-friendly. We can look forward to some real news soon, though – Wanderlust is coming out on February 24th! Have a happy, healthy 2012!
